Where do you draw the line?

Finding the precise hem length you want can be a challenge.
Shopping for that hem length online can be even more challenging.
Many online retailers do not have filter options that allow sorting by length. Thus forcing us to manually search though hundreds of items. Additionally, almost all retail pictures are on models 5'9 or taller, which can make it difficult to determine where a hem will fall on you. You may be able to get around the visual disconnect if your shopping at one of the few retailers who provide you with the length measurements for their items. Of course, this means that you need to know what those measurements translate to on your body. Otherwise your left wondering, how long is a 35 inch hemline on me?

At Mode-sty we always provide the length of our skirts and dresses. And we want to make sure that the length information is truly useful to you. To assist we've created the guide below. We want you to have confidence in knowing where a garment will hit on your leg. Thus, saving you from unnecessary returns and uncertainty when making a purchase.

Using the Hem Length Guide
For each hemline you are looking for, find your height range in the box on the left. Then on the right you will see the corresponding dress and skirt length in inches you will need to have a garment that hits at that length.  This is just a guide as some women have legs that are shorter or longer compared to their torso that you will need to account for. To have more certainty you will need to get the following two measurements:
  1. Your height.
  2. The length of any one of your skirts or dresses, be sure to measure it from waist/shoulder to hem. Note whether a skirt sits at the high waist or natural waist because this will affect where it hits relative to you knees.
Using that information you can modify the guide to be accurate for your body. This guide is also available on our store website.

  1. Thank you! I don't want to show my knees, nor does anyone want to see them.
I was just browsing a website and wondering "will that dress be at or above the knee on me?". Now I know for sure. I'm bookmarking this post.
